PHILOSOPHY
Public Administration environment is everyday becoming more complex. Public administration in a developing economy like Nigeria is usually characterized by immense complexity and dynamism. The effectiveness of public administrators in such an environment would depend on how broad based their training had been. Worldwide, they're in need for undergraduate and in service training programme for the primary training and upgrading of middle and senior management and administrative personnel in the public and private sector.
The department of public administration of CARITAS UNIVERSITY offers four year and 3-year degree programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Science degree in public administration. Candidates offered admission on direct entry basis would undergo the 3-year programme. Programmes in the department are organized first to give the students a board based education in the humanities, social science, mathematics, and computer education followed by further training in the functional areas of business management and public administration.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
Public administration students are required to successfully operate the university common courses, departmental intra and inter-faculty courses specified in the departmental programme. All public administration majors are required to take full courses in the areas of personnel and public financial management. The degree examinations in the final year shall consist of the second semester courses and any other relevant areas determined by the Departmental Examination Board.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Apart from the General University admission requirements for entrance examination a credit in school certificate or ordinary level G.C.E in English Language, Economics and at least pass in Mathematics are required.
Direct entry candidates must possess at principal level in SSCE, GCE or NECO (A level) in at least two relevant subjects obtained at one sitting; OND, NCE, HND or first degree. In addition, the candidate should have obtained three credits at ordinary level in subjects other than those passed at advance level.
